Travel Video: Visiting a local village in Ostritsa Bulgaria
Last month I had a unique opportunity to visit a local family in Ostritsa Bulgaria.
I decided to make a video of my visit so you can experience this as well.
Hope you Enjoy this video and stay tuned for more to come in the close future.
Meeting the locals of Ostritsa, bulgaria
This was a unique trip and gave me a rate insight into a village I had never heard about and to have an insight into local Bulgarian village culture.
I had great fun and enjoyed the visit very much as the locals from Ostritsa made us feel very welcome and at home on our visit.
Highlights had to be have lunch from the garden as all the salad ingredients where grown in the yard and extremely fresh and tasty.
What was the village like?
I don’t think you could even count more than a hundred residents who lived all year around in the village.
Many of the younger locals had moved out to seek a better life and work in the bigger cities meaning many houses remain empty.
Some of the elderly remain but some of the houses have been sold off as holiday homes to buyers abroad looking for an investment meaning many locals had started to flock away from the city.
You can still find one shop in the main square selling garden supplies and house hold items and a selection of limited food supplies.
It makes you wonder about the hisitory of Ostrista and if the village has much of a future at all.
You can still travel by donkey and cart here which is a rare novelty these days.
I hope you enjoy watching the video to get a better understanding of the kind people and location.
