Go sea kayaking around the Los Gigantes cliffs
Shore excursion: Sea kayaking Los Gigantes cliffs
The Los Gigantes cliffs are stunning, and what better way to enjoy the view from the comfort of your very own sea kayak!
Nothing quite beats the feeling of being out on the ocean in a kayak with an amazing backdrop, taking it all in.
Local kayaking guides will take you out on the water and around the cliffs on your very own kayaking adventure.
You can either have a kayak to yourself or share it with a buddy to double up your paddle power — the choice is yours.
Enjoy this guided sea kayaking activity around the cliffs of Los Gigantes.
Explore Puerto Colon Harbour on a catamaran whale watching adventure
P&O Cruises Shore experience: Catamaran adventure & whale watching
Sit back and relax whilst you enjoy a catamaran journey around the Puerto Colon Harbour.
Close by along the route is a popular area for spotting pilot whales and dolphins in the open ocean, so if you keep your eyes open you might get lucky with a spotting.
During the trip, you also have a chance to go for a swim in the sea from the catamaran, which is great opportunity to try open sea swimming.
The Catamaran trip also includes a local lunch and beverage. On our voyage we enjoyed a fantastic paella dish.
A fun experience to try a catamaran journey from Tenerife.
Enjoy dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe with a live show
Shore experience: Hard Rock dinner & show
One awesome way to spend an evening in Tenerife is to enjoy a Hard Rock Cafe dining experience.
With the taste of Americana accompanied by some rock music whilst you tuck into a burger or a rack of ribs, what’s not to love!
The dining experience also includes a live band you can watch and enjoy while you dine which is a great way to jazz up your evening meal.
Be sure to check out the Hard Rock Cafe in Tenerife!
Stop off at the Masca Valley viewpoint for Incredible views
Shore experience: Masca Valley quad biking & rustic lunch
The drive to the Masca Valley viewpoint is so worth it for the incredible views of the surrounding valley.
It’s the perfect photo point to capture the beauty of Tenerife island.
Enjoy the view and remember to take loads of photos before you head back around the winding roads on your way down.
Chill at Teresitas Beach for sunset yoga and a mojito
Shore experience: Beach yoga & mojito
Teresitas Beach is one of the only white sandy beaches on offer in Tenerife, with imported sand.
It’s an impressive location with an incredible mountain backdrop too.
Why not stretch out and enjoy a sunset beach yoga session. Or you can opt for a tasty mojito from one of the many bars that line Teresitas Beach.
A perfect way to end your day in Tenerife.
Hike around the coast of San Pedro and head to Abaco Mansion for lunch
Shore experience: San Pedro walk & Abaco Mansion
For one of the best hikes in Tenerife, you have to head out around the coastal hiking trail of San Pedro.
The views along the way are spectacular and well worth all the walking. It’s a great way to explore part of the island’s long coastline.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head towards Abaco Mansion for a spot of lunch. This incredible mansion is full of history and often hosts flamenco shows.
The garden offers a perfect spot for lunch in the sunshine.
Visit El Calderito de la Abuela for a cooking show with local chef Mario Torres
Shore experience: Wine & food Canary style
Be sure to visit the local restaurant of El Calderito de la Abuela for a cooking show with local chef Mario Torre.
Most of the ingredients on offer here are grown in the local garden next door, or sourced locally from the island — so you can get a real taste of Tenerife cuisine here.
The location is also stunning, and you can get a table looking out over the coast from high above. A wonderful experience.
I can highly recommend the simple dish of egg on chips. I don’t know how they manage it but the chefs transform these simple ingredients into a spectacular dish that you must try on a visit to this restaurant. They source the eggs from local hens so the eggs are as fresh as they can be, and go well with the chips. A must-try, along with all the other incredible dishes on offer.
Bodegas Monje for a visit and wine tasting
Stop off at the Bodegas Monje for a tour of the local wine cellar as well as a spot of wine tasting.
It’s a lovely experience to try the wine surrounded by the vineyard, and the small snacks they have on offer here are tasty too.
They also make a local IPA beer here which had a limited run and is available to try on tap too.
Walk around the colonial quarter of San Cristobal de La Laguna a World Heritage site
Shore experience: UNESCO forest walk & La Laguna World Heritage
Spend the morning walking around the historical town of La Laguna, which is a recognised UNESCO World Heritage site.
Wonder around the Colonial quarter and enjoy the unique and colourful historical architecture that can be found around the cobbled streets.
La Laguna is a must-stop-off destination on any trip to Tenerife.
Spend some time exploring Garachico village
Shore experience: Wine Cave & Garachico Village
Garachico Village is a Bbautiful colonial town located in the north of Tenerife.
When you first arrive in Garachico you will quickly notice an incredible collection of rocks by the coast of the town where the lava used to flow.
This area has been transformed into incredible rock pools, so if you fancy a dip in the sea, you can do it right here!
Walk up through the local town, check out the Church of Santa Ana which is surrounded by palm trees, and find a nice spot in town to grab a coffee whilst enjoying the beauty of the town.
Spend a day of fun at The Water Kingdom – Siam Park
Shore experience: The Water Kingdom (Siam Park)
Did you know that The Water Kingdom at Siam Park has the biggest collection of Thai buildings outside of Thailand?
Not only this but it’s considered one of Europe’s best water parks, and you can find it located in Tenerife.
The water park is massive with a large selection of slip and slides, water adventures, wave machines and swimming pools to choose from. You will simply be lost for choice! No wonder it’s voted as one of Tenerife’s top attractions.
You could easily spend a whole day of family fun exploring the whole waterpark.
Head to the top of Mt. Teide for some incredible views
shore experience: Mt. Teide cable car
Sadly when we visited, due to weather conditions the cable car to the top of Mt. Teide was temporarily closed.
This can happen from time to time but not to worry, I have something to do on my return to Tenerife in the future.
A great replacement activity can be found close to the top of Mt. Teide where you will find the Valley de Ucanca viewpoint and then you’re a short walk from the incredible rock formations.
I could have spent hours hiking around this incredible collection of rock formations caused by volcanic activity from the past.
It almost feels like you’re walking around the surface of Mars, like a Martian astronaut.
It’s a truly spectacular experience to discover this unique landscape — I would happily go again.
So if the cable cart can’t bring you to the top, you need not to worry, you can enjoy the surrounding area instead which is just as fun.
See the starry night sky during a star observation workshop
Shore experience: Mount Teide National Park (also includes La Laguna)
– starry night sky
At the top of Mt. Teide, you will find a large selection of scientific observation telescopes, as this location is ideal for looking into space.
This makes this spot truly one of the best places in Europe to stargaze!
it’s a perfect location to experience the nighttime starry sky.
Why not opt for a late-night observation workshop so you can see all the stars and galaxies for yourself.
I found the workshop to be full of information about the stars, with a chance to see a distant star for yourself through the workshop telescope.
Without any light pollution, you really can see such a spectacular night sky from the top of Tenerife, I would highly recommend it.
Now time for some watersports jet ski fun
shore experience: Jet ski safari & beach time.
Heading out to the open sea on a jet ski was a super fun watersports activity to try in Tenerife.
After a safety briefing, and a walk-through on how to operate the jet ski, you hop on a boat and head out to the jet ski course located closeby to the coastal beach where you are assigned your jet ski.
You can go out on the jet ski as a duo, if you prefer to buddy up with someone to handle the helm.
Then you can go as fast as you like around the course and have a fantastic time! This was an exciting water adventure activity to try, and I would highly recommend trying it for yourself if you haven’t already.
