Ryanair will Never fly to north America and they will never offer flights for as low as $14, heres whys:

Ryanair chats a lot and the press love it

Anything that Ryanair says is extremely clever! They have been doing it for years, but they never have to act on what they say, its called a free advertisement model. Its very smart, Ryanair charge next to nothing for cheap flights by pretty much cutting its advertisement budget to nothing.

One smart way they do this is by saying ideas “might happen”. Ryanair by the general public and the press are seen as a joke, they can come up with funny stories that will never happen by saying “it’s an idea we have”, they might come across as silly with what they come up with, but I don’t see any other airline able to offer as many routes as they do for rock bottom prices.

Ryanair in this case are the ones laughing, as all the popular media outlets pick up the story and know the wide attention that it will bring.

Ryanair is ok Being labelled as a horrible airline to fly with as they still keep on getting repeat customers with an eye for a bargain, they have a grasps on their market.

Ryanair is the smartest airline when it comes to running a business on the strap line, they will out compete any airline and do this by running a tight ship.

Did you know that Ryanair encourages its staff to collect free pens from hotel rooms rather than buying pens for their office staff? True story, I asked a friend who works for them and he said they don’t supply pens. I even heard if you ask Any of the big bosses at Ryanair for a pen they will give you one and it’s more likely to have a hotel brand name on it. They run a tight ship!

My point is they will spin any story as long a the press picks it up and it goes viral, Ryanair like to brag about how cheap they are because they know the general public will debate about how insane they are. It works, it sells!

Take these examples:

Standing seats

Ryanair said they are looking into introducing standing seats for flight routes that are under an hour. I still have not seen this yet? All I’ve seen is the story being constantly repeated time and time again.

Paying for toilets

Again, I’ve seen this story time and time again, but never seen one paying toilet on any of my Ryanair flights. But still my Gran keeps on telling me to go to the toilet before my flight as they charge, see, it works!

Cheap flights to America

Ryanair has 29% of Aer Lingus stocks, they already operate this route very frequently, I can’t see them undercutting their own business. They won’t do it unless they can strike a great deal by introducing Dreamliners to their fleet, which already has a long waiting list, It would take around 4 years for this to happen.

The problem? I first heard this story years ago! They could have already ordered the aircrafts by now if they was dead serious about it and beat Norwegian air and Wow airline who have already gone into this area as budget airlines.

Instead, they focus on expanding European routes which they’re good at,

They could have owned the transatlantic route if they truly wanted to, but they haven’t, they choose to spin the story instead of going with it. The competition is already there, I can’t see them bothering to compete. By running this story, they put themselves in the spotlight and are seen as a budget airline offering cheap flights, gets everyone talking about them again for free.

As for the $14 flights?

This low price quote is from when the first story emerged from the Guardian, Please notice the date, 2007! That’s how long they have been talking about this! 8 years! Still no cheap flights to American!

Everyone that is writing articles about this deal now, are referring to that price back then. Its surely inflated by now and I’m 100% sure that price would have only been for the first flight so it would have been too good to be true, but the general public will think that it will be constantly set at that price.

Its hear say and sparks conversations in the pub: “Hey Gary did you hear that Ryanair are offering flights for $14 to America. Really Steve? I will have to take a look at that online when I get home” Then they go back to reading their newspaper and will share this slightly interesting news with everyone, but all Ryanair will have to do is offer one flight full of seats at $14 each to justify themselves…..if it ever was to happen that is. Then they can go back to offering normal prices, its cheap viral advertisers and they are extremely smart and good at it.

Another great company who follows this method is Virgin Galactic, how long have they been going on about flying tourists to space? When was the last time they took tourists to space? Yes, exactly, it hasn’t happened, but you’ve been hearing about them for years!

Hat off to Ryanair, they do it time and time again, the press laps it up, the general public love to talk about them and they will continue to expand.

Am I happy about it?

Yes, Without them, I would have never started travelling, they are rock bottom cheap, my first flight to Finland was made possible because I could afford them and they are allowing everyone to travel, well done.

Trust me, if it happens (just like Virgin Galactic) I will be the first in line to get a $14 flight to New York, I just can’t see it happening at that price and any time soon for that matter.
