Travel Gear Tech Review: NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router
If you are looking for a perfect mobile router for travel that can deliver blazing-fast 5G speeds, support WiFi 6E devices, and connect up to 32 devices simultaneously, you might want to check out the NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router.
This device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, which enables it to support both mmWave and Sub-6 bands of 5G, depending on your carrier and location.
It also has a 2.5G Ethernet port for multi-gig wired connections, an extra-large touchscreen for easy setup and monitoring, and a rechargeable battery that can last for a whole day.
I have to say that the touchscreen is one of the most user-friendly interfaces I’ve ever seen on a mobile router, extremely easy to use and set up.
Also, the battery life makes this a rugged travel-ready device, perfect for those long days of working remotely when you need a dedicated connection to your devices and don’t want to worry about the battery running out.
The Ethernet port comes in handy when you want to use the device at home with a stable connection or when travelling to business hotels across the US or Japan that still offer LAN connections in rooms.
You can also then work out if you can get a 5G connection or Ethernet connect and work out which of the two has the fastest connection, you have this option.
The Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router is designed to provide reliable and secure WiFi on the go, whether you are working remotely, streaming videos, gaming online, or browsing the web.
Perfect for remote workers or Digital Nomads who would like to purchase a local SIM card and create a dedicated and reliable connection on the road whilst you work on the go.
Sometimes hotel wifi can be a struggle, having the Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router handy can help solve these situations when you need to get work done and the local signal is good.
For example in Thailand, you can purchase an affordable 5G data package tourists sim which you can load with data on the go.
Also many sim card only data deals in the UK now come with 5G ready sims, such as GiffGaff.
It can also serve as a backup internet connection for your home or office in case of an outage. Natural disasters happen and if the internet goes down you can use your Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router to create a hotspot for your household with a data signal.
With WiFi 6E technology, it can deliver up to 3.6Gbps of wireless speed and reduce interference from other devices.
WiFi 6E is the latest WiFi standard that operates on the 6GHz band, which offers more channels and less congestion than the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
The Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router is compatible with most major carriers around the world, but you will need a SIM card from your provider to access their 5G network.
Another aspect of the device which is useful for travellers is you can connect all your devices then move from the hotel to Airbnb and not have to worry about reconnecting all your devices each time. You have a dedicated secure mobile router to connect all your devices too.
The device is unlocked, so you can switch between different carriers as you travel. This is super handy for those working remotely, you can purchase a local sim card and load it with data as you travel to get a connection.
You can also use the NETGEAR Mobile app to manage your data usage, view network information, and update firmware. This way you can keep an eye on your data usage as you travel.
The device also supports VPN pass-through, parental controls, guest WiFi, and WPA3 security.
This is handy if you’re travelling with a group such as on a road trip, no need to purchase multiple sim cards, you can use the Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router to share your data connection as you travel.
Another feature that I like is the device can be connected and charged with a wired USB-C cable. saves having to carry around multiple cables.
Out of the box, you get the NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router device with a battery, manuals, USB-C cable and power plug to charge your device.
The battery is removable (Which is also how you get to the Micro sim card slot) and you can purchase additional batteries for an additional cost to use with the NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router. Perfect if you will be away from a power point for a few days and still need a dedicated mobile router.
I must admit, coming in at RRP £899.00 in the UK, the Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router is not a cheap, mobile router. But, if look at all the features that it’s loaded with you will struggle to find a more advanced model of the mobile router at this current time of writing. You’re investing in the best possible router currently on the market 5G ready.
I could see this device working well with streamers on the go or for those who need a dedicated signal when out and about when having a connection is of it’s upmost importance.
It is one of the few mobile routers that can support both mmWave and Sub-6 bands of 5G, as well as WiFi 6E devices currently on the market.
The Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router device is also easy to use, durable, compact and portable. Perfect for Travel.
If you are looking for a future-proof mobile router that can keep up with your high-speed internet needs, you might want to give the Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G Router a try on your future travels.
