Organising fun trips for a large group can be affordable

Organising a fun get away for a large group of friends can be just like becoming a mini travel agent, it can be a lot of fun putting together group trips.
What might at first seem like a big expensive challenge, can become hassle free and doesn’t have to cost the earth if budgeted correctly with a bit of advance planning.
Armed with some useful advice, travelling in a large group is totally possible. If you was looking into the possibility of organising a group trip, and want to help your mates out, I’ve put together some useful travel tips in this blog post to help you off to a great start.
Buy in Bulk, save big, the power of group travel
(Got a group discount to the Kuekenhof in Holland with one email, they have group rates)
This is going to be the overall core money saving tip, when you have a large group, don’t see it as a huge expense, see it as a powerful tool to leverage a good deal.
Many attractions don’t openly advertise group rates and all it takes is a simple email inquiry and the possibility of a group discount could become available to you and your chums. I’ve done this on countless occasions and it’s simply down to hit or miss. But when it does work, the time it’s taken to put together that email is going to be a worthy investment in your time.
Many companies will happily sell 10 tickets at a discount than sell any at all, your a walking group of customers, which will make any business happy, work out how to maximise this opportunity and see what you can find. This already works for school groups, make this work for your group.
This ranges from, van rental, accommodation, eating out, attractions, loads of areas, email around and ask if they can offer you a group deal ahead of time, you will be surprised to see what comes back, many would be interested in your business and will only take a bit of advance research.
Hey, if a restaurant wants to hook you up with a complimentary bottle of wine with a table reservation, that’s better than nothing at all right? Make your group numbers work for you.
Have your own private space to yourself
(Holiday home’s can feel more homely with large groups, they can have some stunning views too)
If you happen to be travelling in a large group, accommodation can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. Avoid looking for a hotel or hostel for your large group, via a popular booking site,
It’s not easy to find a deal this way, as each accommodation option only allocates a limited amount of rooms to each booking system, it can be tricky to find a place that can accommodate you, best to contact them direct and ask for a group booking.
if you are a group of 10 you might as well be better off renting a holiday home or luxury lodge on the coast. Just because it looks expensive, it doesn’t have to be. One example would be to look at websites such as Blue Chip holidays, which have Holiday cottages that can cater for large groups.
Split the room costs with a group of friends and you’re quickly finding that travelling with more can become affordable as renting a whole space can work out to be cheaper than a hotel when you split the total cost up amongst friends.
Having your own private space becomes more enjoyable as well as you have it all to yourself to enjoy each others company, this makes the trip far more exciting to have your own personal space and helps encourage more to sign up as it’s a fun idea, for sure something to consider.
If you was to go for a Hostel option, first you will have to find a room that will first be able to handle the size of your group, you might have to split up between rooms around the hostel and you also might have to share with others.
Make the trip enjoyable, rent out your own private space and look into self catering holiday rentals.
A Self Catering option can save you a lot
(Eating out can soon add up in large numbers, consider self catering options)
It’s fun to eat out on your travels, but when travelling in a large group this will start to add up each night, chipping in with a group of friends and creating a grocery pot and cooking and preparing your own meals can save you a packet.
This can be a fun option to visit a local supermarket and pick up local produce and attempt to try and cook up a local dish. Budgeting can be fun and especially with meals such as Breakfast, this can be put together in bulk and save you a nice tidy amount. Self catering options can make this happen and you will have everything you will need in the kitchen to make this happen, maybe even a BBQ, happy days!
If you have no idea about ingredient amounts for large groups, take a look at the BBC feed a crowd website for many group cooking receipes, very helpful to avoid buying too much and cooking enough for everyone and saving big in the process
Stay in a more local style home
Holiday rentals typically will be more authentic than a chained hotel, let’s face it, they mostly all look the same. When you’re staying in a self catering holiday rental, normally the owner will decorate the place to make it feel more homely and comfortable making it a more fun environment and a more enjoyable holiday.
Travel should create moments you want to remember, if you’ve all chipped in to enjoy something special, you never know where you might end up, by the coast, overlooking a stunning view, you can choose the location that suits all of you better, you have freedom with your choice when booking a holiday home in large numbers.
Parking options can cost a bomb
(Car sharing or renting a van can save you big in a group, be sure to fill all the seats and consider toll, parking fees and petrol costs on top)
It’s the little things you forget about when booking your group trip, if you happen to be travelling with a large group of friends you might have opted to save cash by renting out a minivan or put together a handy carpool system such as Blah Blah car if you wish to fill empty seats, the only problem is you have to pay for expensive parking for maybe up to a week in length why they’re not in use. Holiday rentals typically come with free parking as standard, which is one less thing to worry about.
