Husky sledge adventure at the Rovaniemi Husky park, Finland

  • by Dave Brett
Exploring Finland by Husky sledge, Rovaniemi Husky park (HD Video)

Try a Husky sledge adventure at the Rovaniemi Husky park, Finland. If you happen to be visiting Rovaniemi in Finland, 2OO Meters, close to the entrance of the Santa Claus village you will be able to find the Arctic Circle husky park.

Here you can go on your own Husky sledge adventure and try a husky ride for the first time.

I’d never seen Husky dogs up close or been on Sledge Ride myself, I’ve only seen them on BBC arctic documentaries and fancied giving it ago.

For €25 you get A short but fun 500 Metre Husky safari Sledge ride around the Finnish snow covered forest, surrounding the outskirts of the village.

The experience lasts for around 30 minutes, you get to visit the dogs in the kennel area before you depart on the sledge, if you’re lucky you might even get a chance to see the husky pups too if they are around when you visit.

Here you can watch a video in HD of my first Husky Sledge ride experience:

We took the cheapest package because we were short of time, but if you’re feeling adventurous, there are many other options available:

• 500M Ride – €25
• 2km safari – €35
• 5km safari – €55
• 8KM Safari – €90
• 14-18km Safari – €150
• Northern light Safari – €140

More details about the packages and booking requirements can be found on the Husky parks website above.

My Mum came to visit me whilst I was on exchange in Finland and we wanted to try something different and special, it really was a memorable experience, we both enjoyed it very much.

It was easy to sort out too, the Husky park is open from 10:00am to 16:00pm (later times you can arrange with a booking) as we arrived early to the park we had no waiting time at all and went straight onto the sledge

If it’s not busy, just walk up to the park and off you go!

We went to Rovaniemi on our own independently without a tour group and this was not a problem to arrange by ourselves.

The dogs seemed to love it and can’t wait to get started, they’re very eager to get on their way in the morning.

The staff are friendly and easy to talk to and are passionate about their business and the dogs.

Happy to talk to you about the Husky dogs and how they are looked after and how they can manage in the cold conditions so well, learnt a lot about this unique breed of dog, was very informative.

If you have the chance to go on a Husky Safari sledge ride in Rovaniemi be sure to give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
