Tuk Tuk tour for visit to Angkor wat, Cambodia.
If you’re on your way to Siem Reap to visit the temples of Ankgor Wat, there is one important travel tip you should take to enhance your trip dramatically.
Be sure to book your tuk tuk tour transportation in advance.
Whilst searching around for a place to stay I stumbled across HI Siem Reap, the price looked great for two people sharing (was travelling with a friend) and they offered an airport pickup Tuk Tuk service which was great too.
Because of the Tuk Tuk airport service they offered, I inquired how much it would cost to book the Hostel Tuk Tuk for the whole week.
We had limited time due to work commitments and didn’t fancy the hassle of sourcing a Tuk Take each day as we planned to visit Angkor Wat every day over the course of one week.
The hostel replied that it was possible and we decided to go with it.
Fully understand that if you’re on a backpackers budget this might be a luxury choice but as the price for one-week rental come to a total of £25 We both thought that was a fantastic price which worked out at £1.80 per person, per day.
Apart from the price, here are more reasons why you should opt into booking the hostel Tuk Tuk for the full week:
Airport pick up and drop off
Included in the price was airport pick up and drop off to and from the hostel, for us this was a great reason for booking the Tuk Tuk service with the hostel directly and using the hostel owned Tuk Tuk service, it was just easy.
Ankgor Wat Permit pick up
The driver will take you to the registry office to pick up your one-week temple permit and wait for you. The permit is a must buy if you wish to explore any of the temples, make sure you pick it up if you plan on visiting.
Meet an awesome local, your driver
Our driver was awesome, we got to know him very well and we had the same guy for the whole week, which was nice, we got to know each other very well and it was great to hang out with him on an awesome level and chat to him a lot. Was nice getting to know a local so well.
Your driver will plan everything
That’s right, I never read a map or a guidebook whilst visiting Angkor Wat, our driver on the first day asked what we wanted to do for the whole week, we said that we would leave it up to him.
He was pleased by this choice as he had a whole week planned for us.
each spot he would take us to would have a drop-off and pick up time and everything was all sorted.
By the end of the week we had covered mostly everything after visiting a wonderful variety of different spots each day, it was fantastic.
Best spots to eat around Angkor Wat
Our driver would ask us when we were hungry and recommend places to eat for Lunch and Dinner (The hostel included breakfast which was nice).
At each eating spot, we offered to pay for the driver’s Meal as well and he happily joined us every time.
It was our way of saying thank you each day and didn’t cost the earth.
Nice to get great tip-offs on what best places to eat and what to eat at each place.
Water was included
That’s right, included in the price was bottled water each day, which was stored in a cool box.
We could help ourselves whenever we wanted and this was a great added extra to the package.
sunrise included
One day out of the week we could arrange a sunrise, this is a must if you are visiting Angkor Wat, totally worthwhile to see the sunrise above the temples in the morning.
Overall experience?
All in all, it didn’t cost much for what we got in return, in fact, I think it made our trip to Angkor Wat better than expected, it just worked smoothly and it was fantastic, For me that’s what makes a great stress free trip.
If you would like to do the same, book your Hostel with Hostel International and email them that you would like to hire the hostel transport for the week and your good to go.
They will meet you at the airport upon arrival, magic! Enjoy exploring Angkor Wat!
