How to relax when you travel
You might find it extremely hard to stop the stress in your life and relax for a change, it’s very difficult to start your trip and get out of your busy life zone.
Here are some quick tips to help free your mind and truly unwind on your travels.
Unplug yourself,
Turn off your mobile and laptop and take a step back, go old school and get a good old pencil and pad, I love Moleskines for bursting out my unplugged creativity and they make great travel companions. Every time you have the urge to go online, jot down what you wanted to do and come back to it at the end of the day, this way you can unplug with out the worry on top of your head.
Find a nice personal space to sink into
For me the perfect place is a train or a flight as you have no need to talk to anyone around you and you can truly unwind. A great place for being productive and creative as you have a permanent place with a set time to focus. You can buy some noise cancelling headphones to zone out from your surroundings and relax for a set period of time. Its ok to turn off from time to time.
Wake up early and get a good breakfast in you.
The morning ritual is always the best time you can have to yourself as no one is awake and it feels empty. Try waking up super early, around 05:30am and watch the world wake up around you. This is a great way to start the day. You could try some exercise like a run or watch a sunset on the beach. I like to write 2,000 words and find in the morning the best time to write my personal thoughts. End your morning with a wonderful healthy breakfast to boost your day.
Indulge in a nice hot cupper
Be your brew Tea or the Java, pick your side and relax, nothing like a hug from a warm mug.
Audio
If sound is a problem or you need something set to focus your ears, how about getting in the zone with a nice Audiobook or maybe a podcast, I always like to prepare a chill out playlist on my iPod for these moments. I find Jazz goes well with coffee to set the mood and I find it really helps.
A good old book
When the seatbelt sign goes on you can always rely on your good old hardback to get you through take off. Buy a book you’ve been wanting to read for a while, clear your schedule and focus on finishing the book.
That café, that hammock, that view, that temple
When you get to your destination find the perfect spot you can see yourself loving all day long, bring your pencil and pad, order your choice of drink and just let all those things out you’ve always wanted to with no stress, your on vacation! Relax! You will feel a lot better for it.
I hope some of the above tips help, sometimes travelling can be too much and there is no shame in just stopping and doing nothing for a while. After all, you’re on vacation so use this time however you wish.
